What does ‘vlam · van · an’ mean?
Our name, ‘vlam · van · an’ is dutch for ‘a flame from an’ or ‘love an’. As the owner, Anna, started out making candles for her friends and family (who call her ‘an’ all the time) she saw them as a gift from her and labelled her candles with this name. It stuck because loads of people loved the name so much and we love the personal touch it gives!

What makes soy candles sustainable?
Soy wax is a renewable source and biodegradable. Unlike most used wax, parrafin, that is made out of petroleum aka the same stuff gasoline and plastic comes from. Doesn’t soy contribute to the deforestation of the Amazone?
The deforestation of the Amazon is 80% caused by the need to produce soy for animal feed (source). The soy beans that are used to make our soy wax is grown in Europe by European laws and standards.
